House R

“The terracing of an irregular topography into a flat site is clearly a technocratic gesture that aspires to a condition of absolute lack of place, while terracing the same site to receive the stepped form of a building is a commitment to the act of cultivating the plot.”

Kenneth Frampton, 1983.

On a narrow, wooded lot with a steep slope lies this concrete house, which climbs up the lot, leaving its mark in a staggered manner, adapting to the topography of the mountain in a respectful manner.

Resolved in a single piece, the strip goes around the forest of existing molles, establishing a respectful dialogue with the place.
