5 + 1
The assignment consisted of 5 housing units and an atelier on a 1500m2 lot north of the city. The project presented an opportunity to reflect on how to operate in a consolidated low-density residential area.
The atelier, a space that articulates art production and exhibitions, is located parallel to Laferrere Street, producing a retreat that is offered to the public space. Conceived as an abstract prism, different exhibition spaces are articulated with each other by voids and a ramp-staircase that proposes a tour through the art gallery.
The homes are divided into three levels, a free ground floor, designed for leisure and vehicle storage; a first floor contains the social space; and the third level is the private area of each unit.
A cobblestone street runs through the complex, incorporating a semi-public area, a place of exchange that allows both pedestrian and vehicular access to each home.
